Overdraft Services

At C&F Bank, we offer several options that provide coverage in case you should accidentally overdraw your checking account. Options will be discussed with you at account opening.

Overdraft Privilege

Save merchant charges by using Overdraft Privilege* to cover your overdrafts so that your checks, debit card transactions, automatic payments and ATM withdrawals are paid.

  • We will charge you a fee of up to $36 each time we pay an overdraft.
  • A continuous overdraft fee of $35 will be charged each time your account remains overdrawn for five consecutive business days.
  • You will not be charged more than $180 per day. There is no per item overdraft fee when your account is overdrawn by $5 or less at the end of our business day.

Per item overdraft fees and returned item fees are based on the number of overdraft occurrences in the past 12 months. The fee applies to overdrafts and returned items created by check, in-person withdrawals, ATM withdrawals or other electronic means. Overdraft fees will not be imposed on ATM withdrawals or one-time debit card items unless the account has opted-in. If the account has not opted-in, these transactions may be denied and no overdraft or returned item fees are applied.

*This is a discretionary payment and the Bank is not obligated to pay any item. For example, we do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing or you are not making regular deposits. To remain in good standing, you must bring your account balance to a positive balance within every thirty (30) day period for a minimum period of 24 hours. The total of the discretionary courtesy overdraft (negative balance), including any and all bank fees and charges, including all overdraft fees and interest charges is due and payable upon demand.
